Family Oriented Content

DineSite has been designed for people to share their dining experiences. At the same time, however, we strive to make sure the content at DineSite is viewable for all. We discourage:

  • Harsh, sexually explicit or otherwise inappropriate language
  • Hateful or disparaging comments
  • Unconstructive critism, in general

The '(edited)' Notation

You will see some user postings are noted to be '(edited)' -- this is because of filter software designed to catch the language we have deemed to be potentially inappropriate.

NOT ALL POSTINGS WITH '(edited)' ARE INAPPROPRIATE ... or are even edited. Indeed, some words are seen as harsh in some circumstances but are fine in others: For example, "damn good food" is changed to "darn good food" to be on the safe side -- even though it would not really be inappropriate.

If a word begins with a letter grouping that we are concerned about, it will be noted as edited though it is not: eg. "I assembled my fagita ..." would raise the '(edited)' notation because "assembled" starts off with a potentially inappropriate grouping of letters.

All of this helps us quickly identify inappropriate postings -- and tones them down for any viewers that see them.

User Watch Dog System
for Offensive Postings

We can't catch all the postings that might be inappropriate, so we ask DineSite users like yourself to get involved. If you see an offensive posting, let us know by using the email address provided there on the posting (toward the bottom).

Note: We won't delete postings that are merely a statement contrary to your opinions. In fact, we generally choose to err toward the freedom of users.

If you think a posting is wrong -- you should counter post ... or post a follow up.

We will delete postings ...

  • that are obviously unconstructive
  • where the user does not appear to take the community seriously
  • that are intended to harshly attack or be vengeful
  • that we, otherwise, deem to be inappropriate
