With a menu similar to the old Russian Tea Room, this graceful drawing room pays tribute to the East Village`s East European heritage, while bringing glatt kosher specialties up to the more health-conscious present. Often catering to a Long Island/Brooklyn/New Jersey clientele, they do lots of big parties and weddings. The traditional, updated fare has influences from Italy, Province and Asia, and nouveau twists are added to chicken dumpling soup, chicken Kiev and steamed pelmeni. For dessert, the musical mocha cake will make you leave singing. There`s a nightly live pianist, too.
With culinary expertise focused on a French and Continental cuisine, this is an upscale restaurant. Expect the average entrée to cost between $20 and $30, and you`ll be appropriate if dressed casual.
