From the spicy olive in the martini to the world class selection of fine cheeses, Picholine is perfect in nearly every detail. For first courses, Chef Terry Brennan creates delicious soups, melt-in-your mouth gnocchi, foie gras "au poivre," and tuna carpaccio with vegetable "escabeche." Signature main courses include Moroccan spiced loin of lamb with vegetable couscous, and tournedos of salmon with horseradish crust, cucumbers and salmon caviar. There`s always something interesting to try here, such as day-boat halibut, line-caught skate wing, or Scottish partridge. The rooms are genteel and comfortable. Although the service may seem aloof at times, Picholine is a west side favorite.
Best known for superlative cheese cart, this is an upscale restaurant. The restaurant serves a French fare. Expect the average entrée to cost from $20 to $30.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has an elegant décor. The interior is accented by warm tones. The establishment is formal and romantic.
