Originally located on the Bowery, this hopping Cantonese outpost now holds down the fort on a deserted midtown block, with an awning that needs repair and a homey, brick hole-in-the-wall decor. The Chu family`s phonebook-length menu lists lots of soups, savory casseroles, noodles galore, duck, squab, beef, bean curd and more. It`s especially known for the pepper and salty shrimp, soft shell crabs (in season), and a tasty crab dish with egg and minced pork.
Phoenix Garden is a restaurant that serves Chinese meals.
