The Peacock Caffe is the oldest coffeehouse in Manhattan, and this is made apparent by the ornate, 19th century decor, the old timey record player emitting a soft hum of classical music, and the endearingly ancient owners who forget to make your cappucino, but then give you extra foam when you gently remind them. The restaurant serves everything from provolone and prosciutto sandwiches to spaghetti and meatballs to a full menu of classic Italian desserts. If you want to linger at a cafe for a few hours and escape the bustle of New York life, the Peacock Caffe will make you feel that you`ve stepped into a European city of quite another era.
Peacock Caffe dishes up Japanese cooking. Expect the average entrée to cost from $12 to $20, and dress casual.
