This attractive and serene Japanese restaurant appeals to an exclusive, moneyed clientele who like formal service. It`s a second-story, elongated room with framed Japanese prints on the brown brick walls, hanging white-paper globe lamps, and calming classical music played at just the right listening level. The handwritten menu, in Japanese and English, is printed book-style, featuring broiled eel and cucumber, kiwi with asparagus, tuna steak with ginger, smoked salmon with kale and salmon roe, and steamed acorn squash stuffed with tofu and vegetables. There are a few tasting menus, with vegetarian, tempura, sashimi or steak courses.
Omen focuses on a Japanese cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost from $8 to $12, and you`ll be fine if dressed casual, but fashionable.
Eating & Drinking: Open for dinner.
Notable Mention: One of New York`s better restaurants.
Details to Note: Reservations are required.
Ways to Pay: Cash and American Express
More ...: has a Prix Fixe menu
