Open since 1974, this Italian restaurant is a veritable institution. It looks like the kind of fancy living room people use only when special guests come over. Behind the bar is a voluptuous nude with flowing golden hair of gilt, and other works of Italian art are sprinkled throughout the dining room. Luigi Nanni, the small, sober owner from Abruzzo, serves regional dishes like pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, angel hair with a secret house sauce, a variety of risottos, and filet mignon with foie gras.
Nanni Valletto Ii is an upscale establishment that offers guests an Italian menu. Expect the average entrée to cost between $20 and $30, and you`ll be fine if dressed casual, but fashionable.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a romantic atmosphere.
More Reasons to Go: Nanni Valletto Ii is appropriate (if not ideal) for anniversaries and other romantic evenings.

Notable Mention: One of New York`s better restaurants.
Details to Note: Reservations are necessary for groups.
