Regularly winning accolades for serving the best Mexican food in New York, this small, mauve-stuccoed space was recently redecorated, and the arresting artifacts dotting the room make you want to dash south of the border to pick up a few of your own. Start off with a flight of fine tequilas, served with jicama and a citrus-y "sangrita" chaser, and then settle into some delicious comidas: a tamale filled with spicy poblano chile strips, corn masa tartelletes topped with salsa, goat cheese and cilantro, traditional mole poblano on chicken-filled tortillas, grilled skirt steak with refried beans and guacamole, and a zucchini casserole with a roasted tomato sauce.
