Outside it looks like a dollhouse with windowbox flowers; inside there are working fireplaces, bold modern paintings by Martin Kline, and a curved staircase leading to another appealing dining room upstairs. The food is regional Italian, with grilled portobello mushrooms and bruschetta, carpaccio with artichokes and arugula, and pastas made in-house. The husband/wife team of Lumi Hadri and chef Hido Holli present simple things like penne with broccoli rabe and oven-dried tomatoes, cavatelli with sausage and peas, and a roasted striped bass stuffed with lemon and rosemary. Finish with their signature pear-and-almond tart.
This upscale facility focuses on a northern Italian cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost $20 to $30, and there`s a prix-fixe menu. Plan to dress casual.
Atmosphere: The fireplace adds to the atmosphere and mood here. The establishment has two dining rooms and attracts a middle aged clientele.
More Reasons to Go: Lumi is appropriate (if not ideal) for entertaining clients, anniversaries and other romantic evenings.
