"Tulip Cheeks," is the literal translation for Lala Rokh, the Persian variation of the English expression "a rosy complexion." It is also the name of a 19th century poem by Irish poet Thomas Moore. This lush restaurant offers a fantasy dining experience, with original artwork dating to the 5th and 6th centuries, including intricate calligraphy scrolls, Persian miniatures, and rich textiles. With the exception of a few private homes, there is nowhere else in Boston you can experience an authentic Persian meal, with such fanciful presentations as Morgh (a chicken dish made with rose petals, cumin, cinnamon, and saffron) or abgusht (a dazzling stew-like concoction made of lamb, green beans, okra, tomato, green pepper, and eggplant). After concluding the meal with a delicate almond-flavored baklava, stepping back out into Beacon Hill traffic will surely be a sensory shock.
If you go to Lala Rokh, you`ll find a restaurant that dishes up a Middle Eastern fare. Expect to pay $12 to $20 per person.
