Painted geese march across the pretty exterior of this 15-year-old French country restaurant, and inside are fabric-covered banquettes, bouquets of fresh flowers, and stiff white napkins standing tall inside glassware. Farm implements, copper pots and tapestries bedeck the walls and on a high ledge are stacks of firewood. Choice dishes are garlic mousse with wild mushrooms, Hudson Valley foie gras with Calvados, grilled Atlantic salmon with fennel and basil butter, lobster risotto, and roasted rack of lamb with a vegetable tart, salsify and tomato oil. The French and American wine list is one to be proud of.
With culinary expertise focused on a French fare, this is an upscale facility. Expect the average entrée to cost between $20 and $30, and people for the most part dress casual.
