One of the few places in midtown where an entry-level employee can afford the cost of cozy charm. Come for soups like paysanne a l`Orge, (a mushroom, barley lamb soup) or creme Andalouse (a tomato-based cream of vegetable soup) or the French onion soup. Come for the quiche Lorraine, the chef`s salad, or the gruyere omelette. Come for the red and white gingham and to chat with a friend with a sliver of privacy in the midst of chaos. Come for the separate room for smokers. Keep in mind, however, that everyone`s in a rush here, so don`t come for the service.
La Bonne Soupe dishes up French cooking. Expect the average entrée to cost in the range of $12 to $20, and you`ll be appropriate if dressed casual.
More Reasons to Go: When weather permits, enjoy outdoor seating.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner.
Details to Note: Reservations are necessary for groups. Smoking is permitted in smoking areas.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Diners Club
