Posh red banquettes, lots of polished cherry wood accented with ship-shape brass and mirrors give JUdson Grill (formerly Sam`s) the festive glow of a luxury liner on New Year`s Eve. Part of the Jerry Kretchmer empire (Mesa Grill, Gotham), JUdson Grill attracts a power lunch crowd and offers a great after-work bar scene. Chef John Villa creates appetizers like venison carpaccio with Indonesian chili, barbequed quail with corn griddlecake, and oysters on the half shell with sake mignonette. Main course offerings include crispy Florida red snapper with sticky rice and coconut-peanut sauce, olive-crusted salmon, and double-cut pork chop with creamy polenta.
