A straight-shooting, friendly luncheonette that`s a neighborhood institution, with a loyal following of artists and art editors, gallery people and regular folks who snuggle into the bright red booths and decide what to get from the specials on the board. Regular menu items that are still special include a BLT on seven grain toast, tuna salad with olives, capers and lemon zest, and rare roast beef and roasted peppers on sourdough. Soups, salads, chicken and steak are trusty, the brunch omelets very nice, and desserts homey and richly satisfying.
A place. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $12 to $20, and dress casual.
