Specializing in fish, pasta and veal since 1977, this nice northern Italian restaurant has a smoking lunch room downstairs (also available for private parties) and an L-shaped non-smoking main dining room with lilac booths and expense-account heavies. Top first courses are crostini with porcini mushrooms, grilled portobello mushrooms with garlic and balsamic vinegar, and angel hair pasta with crab meat and fresh tomato. Veal is prepared ten different ways, the best sellers being a pounded veal chop parmigiana in lemon sauce, and another covered with tomato and cheese. Desserts are well-prepared but familiar.
Stop in Il Menestrello for a place that dishes up an Italian cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $20 to $30, and plan to fit the scene by dressing casual.
