Film Center was given a nudge in the mid-80s when W.P.A.-type murals and a rather glamorous Deco bar were restored. But it is still a workingman`s bar, where actors, waiting for afternoon auditions, tap into dreams of Hollywood. Meat loaf is the house specialty, but there are other main courses such as Thai beef salad, Cajun chicken, Philly cheesesteak with onions and peppers, and grilled pork chops. For a quick bite, you have lots to choose from: chili, French onion soup, fried mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, and hard-boiled eggs (at the bar).
Film Center Café is a bar that offers an American menu. Expect the average entrée to cost between $12 and $20, and you`ll be appropriate if dressed casual.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a rustic décor enhanced by displayed artwork.
More Reasons to Go: There is movies. Film Center Café is great for private parties.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. There`s a Sunday brunch for $8.95 per person. Click for a sample menu. A full selection of alcoholic beverages are served.
Details to Note: Reservations are accepted. The restaurant stays open late.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Diners Club
