A west village breakfast oasis, Elephant and catle is also long renowned for packed brunches, where you can get possibly the best eggs benedict in town, served on potato pancakes. The C`sar salad is also award-winning, created and tossed at the table. Burgers come with about a million toppings, the omelets are soft, and there¦s an awfully fine chicken salad with Stilton, red leaf lettuce and shallot-balsamic vinaigrette. Cafe au lait comes in art deco bowls, loose leaf tea in a pot, and for dessert the crepes, homemade carrot cake, and Boston Indian pudding--cornmeal and molasses cooked for 14 hours and capped with vanilla ice cream--are tops.
Elephant And Castle focuses on a Continental and American fare. Expect the average entrée to cost between $8 and $12, and dress casual.
