Convenient to the Met is this splendid, and dearly priced, upscale deli owned by Eli Zabar. At lunch there are incredible soups (especially the borscht), a popular three-salad plate, an exotic fruit and cheese plate, and quality sandwiches such as a turkey club or luscious egg salad. Dinner features hot pastas, crab cakes with a field salad, grilled swordfish with cornichons, and pot roast with potatoes and carrots. Everything comes with Eli`s famous bread, and there are plenty of prepared foods to go if you`re throwing a last-minute dinner party.
