Full of curves and polished wood, with a nice lounge area inhabited by a moneyed, trendy set, much attention was paid to the flattering lighting here, making everybody look good. Henry Meer keeps his eye on the food, with grilled asparagus in a champagne-tarragon vinaigrette, lobster salad with mango, duck confit, baby beets and frisee, and roasted Pine Island oysters with butternut squash puree. Main courses include a pan-roasted loin of veal with Madeira sauce, cherrywood-smoked hanger steak with burgundy-port sauce, and a Cub steak with cognac, raisins and green peppercorns. The adjoining Cub Room Cafe is far more casual and half the price, featuring sandwiches, turkey pot pie and macaroni and cheese. Homemade pies, cakes and cookies are baked fresh daily.
Serving a contemporary American fare and is most sought for their seafood and steaks, this is an upscale facility. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $20 to $30, and dress casual.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has an elegant décor. The interior is accented by wood tones, enhanced by murals, and the lighting is by the glow of candle flame. The establishment is club-like and lively and a favorite for professionals after work. Also, you`ll notice that there are chef tables.
More Reasons to Go: Cub Room is appropriate (if not ideal) for entertaining clients, anniversaries and other romantic evenings.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. There`s a Sunday brunch.A full selection of alcoholic beverages are served, and you`ll find that there is a good selection of wines.
Notable Mention: one of New York`s better restaurants
