Loud and bustling, staffed by harried, occasionally surly waitrons, jam-packed with Villagers and tourists alike, and lit by yellow fluorescence, dining at the Caliente Cab Company resembles a crosstown taxi ride at rush hour. But while the restaurant can feel like a traffic jam, their NYC pot-hole-sized margaritas are some of the best in town, and the drink-til-you-drop atmosphere keeps dates and other gatherings lighthearted. The food here comes in a distant second to the alcohol, although their standard tex-mex fajita/burrito/enchilada fare is predictable and consistent.
Caliente concentrates on a Mexican and American cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $12 to $20, and you can go dressed any way you choose -- within reason.
More Reasons to Go: There is background music while you dine.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. There`s a daily lunch buffet for $4.95 per person, plus a weekend brunch for $6.95 per person.
Details to Note: Reservations are accepted. Carryout is available.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard and Visa
