A loyal neighborhood crowd has been patronizing this country French restaurant for 16 years, with a sedate dining room broken up by columns, well-spaced tables and curved leather banquettes. Owner/chef Lloyd Feit cooks up calf`s brains sautTed with brown butter and capers, cassoulet, escargots in green garlic butter, smoked brook trout, and yellowfin tuna carpaccio. The hamburger deluxe is eminently satisfying, and the greaseless frites a must. There`s jazzy music, an extensive assortment of wine from around the world, as well as nice house pours, plus a variety of beers and single malt Scotches.
With a French cuisine, this is a bistro. Expect the average entrée to cost from $12 to $20, and there`s a prix-fixe menu. Plan to dress casual.
