The Cammarata family keeps rethinking their elegant East Village restaurant (it`s previously been Siracusa and Briscola) and this incarnation may have some staying power. While the floral arrangements, peach hues, evocative murals and soothing music remain, the Sicilian menu is more down-to-earth and the prices more friendly. Winning dishes include salad of oranges, olives and fennel, spaghetti with robust plum tomato sauce, and sharply flavored tuna roe with garlic and oil. The gelato is superb.
If you try out Briscola, you`ll find an upscale facility that serves patrons an Italian cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost over $30, and dress casual.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a romantic atmosphere.
More Reasons to Go: Briscola is appropriate (if not ideal) for anniversaries and other romantic evenings.
Eating & Drinking: Open for dinner.
Notable Mention: Being a good value for your dollar.
Details to Note: Reservations are required. Entrances and walkways are wheelchair friendly. Children are welcome.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa and American Express
Hours of Operation: Closed on Sundays
