Directly under the Brooklyn Bridge is a sagging wooden building more than 200 years old which houses the oldest continuously serving saloon in New York. Inside are nicely painted yellow paneled walls and red-checkered tablecloths serving well-prepared American food. Choices include clam chowder, iced oysters, and a scallopine trio of beef, veal and portobello mushrooms. Updating that saloon tradition, there`s an extensive wine list (and monthly wine dinners), plus several single malts, ports and madeiras. It`s a charming place for a $14.95 prix fixe brunch.
