A dimly lit, cozy East Village refuge that has better than average, though not outstanding, Italian fare. It`s a friendly, low-priced place to meet chums for dinner, with more amenities than you might get else where in the neighborhood, including a gratis bruschetta with garlic and diced tomatoes. The fried calamari with a hot mayo dip is light and flavorful, and pastas, such as spaghetti carbonara and fettucini with salmon, tomato, basil and a touch of cream, can be gotten as half orders as well as main courses. Chicken dijon, veal marsala, shrimp parmigiana and grilled salmon are conventional and well-meaning.
Bonafide`s cooks up an Italian cuisine.
