Set on a barren stretch in Chelsea, you`d only notice this wonderful Italian restaurant if you were really looking for it. It`s worth the search, especially for a taste of their savory sausages (it`s owned by Salumeria Biellese, a famous sausage supplier). While it looks like an upscale coffee shop, the service is careful and friendly, and regulars are greeted like old friends. Satisfying menu selections include an appetizer of mixed sausages (which is almost enough for a meal), fettucine with veal and vegetable ragout, and bay scallops in champagne sauce.
Go to Biricchino Northern Italian for a restaurant that focuses on Italian cooking. Expect to pay $12 to $20 per person.
More Reasons to Go: There is background music while you dine.
Details to Note: Smoking is allowed at the bar.
