The low ceilings and huge oak balustrades at Ben Benson`s make one feel simultaneously tall and small and gives these rooms their ranch-like, masculine character. Indeed, the patrons tend to be men (money-management types, Davidoff cigar-smokers, football players) who expect to enjoy their T-bones in a clubby atmosphere, without the distraction of charming decor. The menu offers sirloin steak, double filet mignon, and triple lamb chops, as well as lobster, fillet of sole, and veal Milanese. The chopped vegetable salad (which needs no dressing) is a house specialty. The wine list received Wine Spectator`s 1995 Award of Excellence.
This fine dining restaurant focuses on an American cuisine with a menu dominated by steaks. Expect to pay over $60 per person.
