In the middle of trendy Soho sits this small, unassuming island of excellence. Here is the perfect spot for typical Ethiopian food, which consists of delicious, spicy stews served on large platters and consumed with your hands via slabs of soft bread. Seating is a little odd, on small stools that could cramp taller eaters; don`t wear anything too complicated. The staff is friendly and helpful, and always willing to describe the different dishes; your best bet is to get a combination plate and just lose yourself in the tastes of eastern Africa. There`s plenty for the veggie in your crowd -- lentils, chick peas, potatoes -- and fish and lamb for the omnivores. For a special treat, have some mead (yes, honey-wine) -- it complements the spices wonderfully. A charming place for a date!
