This is the original Wishbone, a place so popular that they opened a second, larger one in the West Loop/Market district. Occupying an old house, the original Wishbone has a more bohemian and friendly atmosphere than its more urbane counterpart. The front room is decorated diner-style, with a lunch counter and metal tables, and the back room has a homey feel. Except for occasional specials, the menus at both locations offer the same southern-Cajun fare such as blackened catfish and the Yardbird, a roasted chicken served with sweet red pepper sauce. You also get to choose from a number of distinctively southern sides like stewed okra, sweet potato, and sauteed spinach. Breakfast here is very popular; try the perfect grits and biscuits smothered in gravy. You won`t leave hungry.
This restaurant concentrates on a southern American and Cajun fare. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $8 to $12, and dress casual.
