Creating unfettered excitement throughout the New York food world, Jean-Georges is the latest restaurant from star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Adam Tihany has designed a softly lit, highly polished, austere room as the setting for show-stopping contemporary French cuisine that borrows elements from the chef`s earlier successes, Jo Jo and Vong. An emphasis on flourish and fanfare is employed in service. Highlights include asparagus with rich morel mushrooms; Arctic char baked with wood sorrel; and Muscovy duck steak with sweet and sour jus. Memories are made of the chef`s $85 tasting menu.
Focusing on new French meals, this is a fine dining restaurant. Expect the average entrée to cost over $30, and there`s a prix-fixe menu at $85 per person. Plan to dress business casual.
