A new circus has come to town, the high-voltage Le Cirque 2000 -- the grandest big top of them all. Sirio Maccioni is the charismatic ringmaster (of course), juggling Page Six luminaries and the rest of his adoring public in the Gilded Age Villard Houses. Adam Tihany designed the rooms with vibrant whimsy, adding myriad clown and animal references. The French cuisine remains serious: sauteed foie gras, the best caviar, roasted lobster, rack of lamb with eggplant charlotte, and for dessert legendary creme brulee.
Offering a French menu, this is a fine dining establishment. Expect the average entrée to cost over $20.
