Turn-of-the-century bohemian artists in Paris had the decadent habit of drinking opaline (a synonym for absinthe). To live up to its name, this large subterranean East Village space joins the `sthetic pleasures of modern architectural design with exotic French sensual comfort. It appeals to a cutting edge, late-night crowd. The bistro menu features crepes of farmer`s cheese with braised lamb, sauteed monkfish with caper brown butter, and steak frites with citrus herb butter.
Opaline serves a French cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost roughly $12 to $20, and dress casual.
