For years Washington politicos have made Mr. K`s their luxurious headquarters and the New York offshoot caters to similar resident power brokers, currying favor by solicitous service and a potpourri of elegantly served deluxe Chinese fare. The soaring Art Deco space is divided by massive wood columns and high-backed mauve booths which prohibit neck-craning. Expect high tariffs for such ephemera as "firecracker" sea bass simmered in Szechuan sauce with onions and sun-dried tomatoes; prawns stuffed with asparagus tips in egg white sake sauce; and chicken with roasted macadamia nuts in a soy-sherry-garlic glaze. The extensive wine list covers all regions and price ranges.
