It`s always refreshing to see a brew pub that actually serves a decent pint of brew. Such is the case at North East Brewing Company, a habit-forming establishment in Allston where, despite a very classy menu, the management has the good humor to refer to their Black Sow Stout as "our fine swine." Check out the baked brie with grape compote, portobella mushroom pizza with arugula and roasted garlic, or any of the comfort food favorites from the moderately-priced menu. Upstairs, a warm, comfortable dining room surrounds gleaming, glass-encased copper mashtun and brew kettles. Downstairs, a pool table, dart boards, and occasional live bands provide the perfect backdrop for knocking back a pitcher of robust MacFearsome Scotch Ale. Or, for the more romantically inclined, snuggle up on one of the sofas by the fireplace with your honey and a pint of cranberry cider. Very smooth.
Visit North East Brewing Co and you`ll get a restaurant that cooks up bar food an emphasis on pasta and steaks. Expect the average entrée to cost from $8 to $12, and guests go dressed casual.
