Best known for fresh seafood, quality ingredients, housemade breads baked in a hearth oven and great service, this is a fine dining establishment. The restaurant serves patrons a Mediterranean-influenced French fare. Expect the average entrée to cost $20 to $30, and patrons usually dress casual, but fashionable.

Atmosphere: La Truffe Sauvage was first built and operated by Fernando Oca as Chez Oca and subsequently Chateau Nouveau. Structurally, the restaurant utilizes a good deal of glass and windows. accented by green tones, and the lighting is soft. Exposed brick is a striking feature at this restaurant, and tables are covered with linen tableclothes.

The restaurant is spacious with high ceilings. It is warm and calm and frequented by an upscale crowd. Table talk is no problem here - noise level is unobtrusive.

More Reasons to Go: There is background music while you dine. La Truffe Sauvage is appropriate (if not ideal) for the classic power lunch, birthdays, anniversaries, other romantic evenings and private parties.

Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. There`s a Sunday brunch. The menu here at La Truffe Sauvage is revised every three months or so to take advantage of the seasonal impact on freshness and availability. The cuisine here is influenced by the Mediterranean including France, Italy, Spain, Greece, North Africa and southwest Louisiana. Some of the more popular menu items include: Crab cakes, Scallops rockefeller, Prince Edward Island Mussels, Colorado rack of lamb, Bouillabaisse and daily seafood specials.

A full selection of alcoholic beverages are served, and you`ll find that there is an excellent wine list.

Of Interest: All the items served are prepared from scratch using only the finest products available which Chef Mohamed carefully select.

About the Chef: Mohamed Chettouh, originally from Algiers, is classically trained in French cuisine. Many of the dishes reflect his experience in and around the Mediterranean. He has worked at several notable restaurants in France and Houston, more recently the Ritz-Carlton, the Houston Country Club and the Island Terrance at Harrah`s casino (formerly Player`s) in Lake Charles.

The Management: Arthur Durham, also a chef by training, directs the staff under a careful eye to ensure the satisfaction of all who dine at La Truffe Sauvage.
