There`s no garden to speak of at this unlikely venue under the freeway, but despite the dodgy location, Woodward`s Garden is one of the top restaurants in San Francisco. Opened by former chefs from Postrio and Greens, this little jewel with its long, gauzy curtains has only nine tables. The menu changes daily, and always includes a good vegetarian entree. Among the chef`s favorite dishes are grilled nectarines with Gorgonzola and pan-roasted salmon with aioli. And, this may be the only restaurant in San Francisco that accepts personal checks.
This restaurant dishes up a Mediterranean and American menu. Expect to pay between $12 and $20 per person.
Atmosphere: Table talk is no problem here - noise level is unobtrusive.
Eating & Drinking: Open for dinner. You`ll find that there is a good selection of wines.
Notable Mention: One of San Francisco`s better restaurants.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard and Visa
Hours of Operation: Wed-Sun reserved seatings at 6, 6:30, 8 and 8:30p, beginning spring 1998, woodward`s garden will be open seven nights a Wed ek.
