
Around for 140 years, the famous Cliff House survived both the turn-of-the-century fires at the neighboring Sutro Baths and the 1906 earthquake. The view is spectacular. Look carefully, and you`ll see seals cavorting on the giant rocks below. The broiled double lamb chops with fresh herb sauce are done well, and for light eaters, there`s an array of good seafood cocktails and salads.
Serving a Californian fare where it`s common to order seafood, this is a fine dining restaurant. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $20 to $30, and there`s a prix-fixe menu.
Atmosphere: You`ll be able to take in the ocean view from many seats at this establishment. The establishment has a historic Victorian era décor. The interior is accented by dark woods, enhanced by displayed artwork, and the lighting is set quite dim. Tables are covered with linen tableclothes.
