Everyone from serious food lovers to socialites converges at this celebrated restaurant. A Drew Nieporent venture (like NYC`s Nobu and Montrachet), Rubicon is known for its celebrity owners (Robin Williams, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert DeNiro). All dishes are handled with a distinctive flair. The scallops on a bed of mashed potatoes cause a stir, and lamb and ahi tuna are excellent. Master sommelier Larry Stone`s wine list is superb and desserts are breathtaking.
Serving a French and Californian fare, this is a fine dining bistro. Expect the average entrée to cost between $20 and $30, and there`s a prix-fixe menu. Plan to dress casual, but fashionable.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a wood finished décor. The interior is enhanced by contemporary artwork, and the lighting is set quite dim. This is a white tableclothe restaurant, and exposed brick is a striking feature at this restaurant.
The establishment has two dining rooms. It is contemporary and fun and attracts a mature and classy clientele. Table talk requires you to speak up a bit here.
More Reasons to Go: Rubicon is appropriate (if not ideal) for anniversaries, other romantic evenings and private parties.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. The menu here at Rubicon is supplemented with daily specials based on seasonal freshness and availability. There is also a prix-fixe menu available.
A full selection of alcoholic beverages are served, and you`ll find that there is an excellent wine list.
