Deep in the heart of the Mission, you`ll find Roosevelt`s, the mecca for tamale lovers. Dating back to 1922, it is a San Francisco tradition. Oilcloths, dark wood-paneled walls, and a huge electric clock lend a certain south-of-the-border feel. Specialties include the guacamole, the eponymous tamales, and the excellent chile rellenos.
If you go to Roosevelt Tamale Parlor, you`ll find a place that serves a Mexican cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost under $8.
