Oliveto is the Mediterranean jewel in Oakland`s crown. In the lovely upstairs dining area, an open kitchen serves as centerpiece to a room filled with elegantly set tables. The muted colors are reminiscent of Tuscany, but the menu embraces all the cuisines of Italy, as well as those of Spain and Greece. Pappardelle with roasted chicken is a favorite, and striped bass with tapenade is the extremely popular when available.
Best known for serving fresh, locally grown produce and locally raised meats/poultry, this is a fine dining restaurant. The restaurant serves a north Italian fare. Expect the average entrée to cost between $20 and $30, and visitors are quite appropriate dressing casual.
