This restaurant -- the daddy of all traditional North Beach eateries -- recently went through a face lift to bring the decor up to date. Now there are large front windows to accommodate people watching, and the atmosphere is pleasant and light. The 27-year-old menu wasn`t changed at all, however; tradition is still king. Try the porcini risotto or braised lamb Bruno.
With culinary expertise focused on an Italian fare, this is an upscale restaurant. Expect the average entrée to cost $12 to $20, and you`ll be fine if dressed casual.
