EatAlot - We'd always heard about the great food one could experience at the Metropolitan Grill. Unfortunately the food was not good enough to overcome the very poor and rude service our friends and we received last August of 2005. Having waited for a special occasion to dine at the Met., we realized afterward that with the way in which we were treated at the Met., we could have had a far more enjoyable experience at Applebee's without the aggravation (not good for one's digestion) than what we had experienced at the Met. Before you switch to a more favorable review, please be aware that in our experience, the waiter could not have been more insulting if he had tried to be. Our story must be told, because there are just too many other good reviews about this restaurant. Yes, we complained to the management and reported the waiter to them. However, we did not want nor did we receive any compensation for a lousy time. It all started when we sat down to look at the wine list. When we asked for a suggestion from him about a good wine to drink with our $500 dinner, he just walked away! We just asked his opinion. Was that so terrible? He came back about 15 MINUTES later and asked if we had made up our minds yet! We were aghast at his lack of courtesy. Our only fault was that we stayed there throughout the evening and blew half a grand! We gathered that we must have asked a very stupid question. Or, it could be that we threw him for a loop when he did not have an answer for us. Perhaps the restaurant would like to educate the help a bit more to assist in future requests from its patrons. Anyway, we walked away $500 poorer that evening, but had gained the knowledge that we would never, ever, recommend this restaurant to any friend! Maryann Weis Port Orchard, WA
