Masa`s has been consistently voted one of the top French restaurants in the country. Believe the hype. Chef Julian Serrano produces dishes that are both visually stunning and palate-pleasing. In a dark, hushed room staffed with professionals who provide exquisite service, Masa`s offers choices such as an appetizer of warm lobster salad with a truffle vinaigrette, and entrees of sauteed medallions of fallow deer, and a rack of lamb in a cumin-caraway sauce. The degustation menu is an excellent way to experience the menu`s range. Desserts are exceptional and stunning.
Best known for its seafood, this is a fine dining restaurant. The restaurant concentrates on a French and Californian fare. Expect the average entrée to cost over $60, and there`s a prix-fixe menu. Plan to dress formal -- jacket is required.
Atmosphere: Masa`s opened back in 1983. The establishment has an elegant décor. The interior is accented by mahogany woods, enhanced by displayed artwork, and the lighting is soft. Tables are covered with linen tableclothes, and the use of elegant fabrics compliment the overall look and feel.
The restaurant is small with seating for 65 people, and is formal and romantic and attracts a prim and proper clientele. Table talk is easy - this restaurant is quiet and subdued.
