Remember when even the finest Italian restaurants looked, well, Italian? Mama Melina unapologetically returns us to the days of scenic murals, live romantic music, and central/Southern style dishes that are familiar but not ordinary. Appetizers include a complimentary plate of bruschetta, and the calamari saltati is a popular starter. The linguine alla pescatora and saltimbocca alla Romana are stand outs among the entrees. And, the Seven Gables cinema is right there and shows mostly arty films, with the odd mainstream hit thrown in for good measure, and the proximity to food couldn`t be more desirable...Imagine, say, weeping through a viewing of Cinema Paradiso, and following it up with a fine Italiano meal downstairs at Mama Melina.
