A dark, mysterious restaurant located in the unlikely (and seedy) area of Polk Gulch, Maharani consistently gets raves for its well-executed Northern Indian cuisine. While the service may seem a little diffident, there`s a wonderful selection of vegetarian fare (like chick peas with cubes of cheese and spinach) and an array of house-made chutneys to accompany the fiery curries. The "Fantasy Room" is a dramatic dining experience: low-lit, in pastel colors, and makes the cuisine seem all the more exotic.
Offering patrons an east Indian cuisine, this is a restaurant. Expect the average entrée to cost $12 to $20, and you`ll be appropriate if dressed casual, but fashionable.
