This self-proclaimed first Mexican cafT in Los Angeles is situated I the historic Pelanconi House constructed in 1855 and known to be the first brick building in Los Angeles. The rectangle front porch is full of wagon wheels and antique wood railings on this two-story reddened rose. The dTcor is simple but rich in history as it was constructed when a man`s hands were the best tools for the job. Hand carved wood chairs and hand honed beams create the rustic mood as do the mariachis and Mexican fold dancers that serenade you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mexican menu highlights include machaca & eggs, combination plates, and seasoned beef, chicken, or shrimp fajitas.
La Golondrina Mexican Café focuses on Mexican food. Expect the average entrée to cost in the range of $8 to $12, and go dressed casual.
