What was formerly the Beeliner Diner has reopened as the simple, eclectic Jitterbug. The decor is warm, with orange and golden tones, and the varied menu draws inspiration from around the world. At dinner, try Melinda`s sea stew or the Transcontinental Tango (a French Moroccan lentil stew). At lunch, there`s a wonderful pea patch club sandwich, and for breakfast or brunch, the cactus cooker omelet is a hit. Eat here before or after watching a film across the street at Guild 45th. The Guild has two screens, and shows a mix of arty, costume romps and the better mainstream movies. If you`re lucky, your film choice will be showing in the newer, smaller of the two: it features plush, comfy, high-backed "captain`s" chairs.
