This festive high-ceilinged, two-room trattoria is always bustling. The owner, Mauro Golmarvi, is usually in attendance, his gracious presence making diners feel welcome. Specialties of the house include agnello osso buco (made with lamb shanks instead of the traditional veal) and pappardella bosciaola (pasta with prosciutto, wild mushrooms, Marsala, Barolo wine, and cream).
Assaggio focuses on an Italian cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost $12 to $20.
