Like many Indian restaurants, Appam is quiet, dimly lit, and unconsciously romantic. Though not in the best neighborhood, the cuisine is refreshing and tasty, the menu offering such dishes as shrimp tandoori, and curries served in a clay pot under a delicate pastry shell. A lovely outdoor patio tops off this gem.
With a menu offering east Indian food, this is an eatery. Expect the average entrée to cost roughly $12 to $20, and dress casual.
Atmosphere: The eatery has an authentic décor. The interior is enhanced by antiques and flowers and plants. The place is comfortable and relaxed and typically grabs a family crowd. Table talk is no problem here - noise level is unobtrusive.
