Ajanta may be the most popular Indian restaurant in Berkeley. In the dining room, chandelier light bounces gracefully off carved woodwork and reproductions of the famous Ajanta cave temple murals. The curries and tandooris are great but the regional specialties that appear on a monthly rotating basis are the real draw. Try the Chettinad gosht a braised lamb with tamarind, coconut and coriander.
