Focusing on a contemporary American cuisine, this is a fine dining facility. Expect the average entrée to cost between $12 and $20.

Atmosphere: 231 Ellsworth previously voted one of the top twenty restaurants in Northern California, reopened its doors October 2000. A group of local entrepreneurs with more than fifty years of combined restaurant expertise and a passion for the world of food and wine have reincarnated this favorite of Bay Area diners. Managing Partner and Wine Director Richard Milkovich (Gordon Biersch, The Plumed Horse Restaurant) and Partner/Maitre d’ James Callahan (California Café, The Plumed Horse, Sent Sovi) have partnered with Chef William Collier. Executive Chef William Collier, who has refined his skills in some of America’s top restaurants, has developed a menu of innovative, globally-inspired contemporary American Cuisine. The restaurant has an elegant décor. The lighting is soft.

The restaurant is spacious with high ceilings with seating for 80 people. It is luxurious and energetic and patroned by all kinds of people. Table talk is no problem - noise level here is moderate.

More Reasons to Go: 231 Ellsworth is appropriate (if not ideal) for entertaining clients, birthdays, anniversaries, other romantic evenings and private parties; also, the restaurant is often frequented prior the theatre.

Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. The menu here at 231 Ellsworth changes on a seasonal basis depending on freshness and availability.A full selection of alcoholic beverages are served, and you`ll find that there is a superb wine list with vintage options. In addition, the facility has a seated bar inside.

Of Interest: 231 Ellsworth presents a world-class wine list of eight hundred selections emphasizing California and French offerings. The bar pours an exceptional array of libations and signature cocktails as well as carefully selected list of wines by the glass.
